Sheriff's deputies investigating death of 3-year-old

MARICOPA, Ariz. (KSAZ) - Sheriff's deputies are investigating the death of a 3-year-old child in Maricopa.

The Pinal County Sheriff's Office says they received a 911 call on Thursday from a woman saying the child was in medical distress and she was driving the child to the hospital. Deputies made contact with the woman near Amarillo Valley and Century Roads, and the woman pulled to the side of the road.

The child was immediately transferred to a local hospital where she died in the emergency room.

The child's death is being investigated by detectives. The child lived with her natural mother and two other women. Three other children lived in the home, but they have all been removed by DCS.
