Shoplifters caught on camera at Valley Lego store

AVONDALE, Ariz. (FOX 10) - A local, small business got hit where it hurts the most, their pocketbook, after someone shoplifted from their store, and it was all caught on camera.

If you're looking for Legos, Bricks and Minifigs in Avondale is the spot to go in the Valley. They specialize in hard to find sets and pieces.

"It's a lot of nostalgia when they come into our store," said store owner Jennifer Pryer.

It's a fun store for Lego fans.

"We had two people come into our store and they had a different reason for coming into our store," says Pryer.

The store owners say last week, two people walked in with the sole purpose to steal.

"My employee was suspicious of their behavior, and we went back and reviewed the security footage and sure enough the items were placed into the woman's bag," explained Pryer.

In the video, the woman goes over to the boxed sets, puts down her purse, and pretends to be looking at all the different sets. When her male companion comes up behind her, she slides two Lego sets into her purse.

The store is now working with the Avondale Police Department hoping to catch these criminals.

They say since being a small, local business, any theft like this hurts their bottom line.

"Why would you steal from a small business? It's really hard for small businesses in this day and age with all the different ways you can make purchases," said Pryer. "It's depressing."
