Shoplifting suspect sought after stealing car, driving into pool

Police are looking for a shoplifting suspect who they say stole a car and drove it into a west Phoenix swimming pool.

Phoenix police say the suspect was believed to be shoplifting before he was seen jumping into a car at a parking lot and speeding away before crashing it into a block wall and swimming pool near 59th Avenue and Palm Lane.

According to police, the suspect was driving, recklessly, at very high speed. Issac Quinoz was at home resting, when the incident took place.

"I heard a loud boom," said Quinoz. "I thought it was fireworks."

Three other people, including a three-year-old, were reportedly inside the car. The child was not buckled in, and was not in a car seat.

The suspect reportedly fled the scene, however, they know his identity and are working to arrest him.
