Silent Witness raises reward in woman's murder case

PHOENIX (KSAZ) - It's been more than a year, and there are still no answers for a valley man whose loved one was murdered, her body dumped in an alley.

Investigators believe Patricia Cota's boyfriend was involved in her killing, and her family made an emotional plea for anyone with information to come forward and call police.

Silent Witness announced an increase in the reward for information at Phoenix Police Headquarters.

The victim's family is hoping that will encourage someone to come forward with any piece of information that could help detectives solve this crime that left two little girls without their mother.

"She was a beautiful, my only daughter, my baby girl, she's a love bug," said George Cota.

Cota talked about his daughter Patricia who was found murdered in an El Mirage alley on January 31, 2014.

Silent Witness has increased the reward to $5,000 for any information leading to an arrest in the case.

"The scene where they found Miss Cota was obviously not the place where she was killed based on the evidence there. And so they're looking for any additional help from the public in this," said Sgt. Derek Elmore.

Police believe the prime suspect is Patricia's boyfriend, 34-year-old Jesus Tober, but they don't have enough evidence to link him directly to the crime.

"We also believe there is somebody else that may have helped dispose of, or dump that body in that location. So we're hoping that maybe that person will get a conscience and come forward as well," said Elmore.

Cota was a mother of two girls; 6 and 3-year-olds, now they're being raised by their grandparents.

"The 6-year-old cries for her mama every night, it's like clockwork, when the sun goes down she cries for her mama," said Cota.

George Cota says he is hoping for one thing.

"That my daughter gets justice, she deserves it, her two little daughters deserve it, and my family deserves it," he said.
