'Singing fireman's' prized trumpet, equipment stolen

Teaching fire and water safety through music has been Bill Scott's passion for the past 25 years since he took a guitar to his daughter's classroom. But now he needs the community's help.

His equipment was stolen over the weekend and the thieves made off with some irreplaceable items.

"My dad taught me music when I was a child, so I took a guitar and I played, I made up some songs," he said.

There's been thousands of performances and countless lives touched ever since.

"The kids that are now adults, not it makes me feel proud that they remember, they stop me on the street," he said.

On Saturday night, the trailer that Bill uses to haul equipment was broken into near 51st Avenue and Maryland.

"I opened up the back doors and everything was missing," he said. "There's a speaker missing here, a speaker missing there, a dolly here and there, oh my trumpet, oh no, that's when it hit me."

The trumpet was handed down to Bill by his father, a volunteer firefighter, who also played in the Arizona National Guard.

"Just gave me an upset stomach even know I'm still upset," Bill said.

Bill says it's an item that no amount of money can replace.
