Snowbowl preparing for one of its best seasons yet

Skiers and boarders, get ready!

Snowbowl Ski Resort is preparing for yet another season and this one promises to be one of the best yet. For the first time in 30 years, Snowbowl is introducing a brand new lift.

The Humphrey's Peak Lift will be the first quad lift and will open around Christmas.

"It'll take skiers and riders up to some great intermediate runs, some gladed Aspen areas... it's just a beautiful place on the mountain," said Jason Stratton of Arizona Snowbowl.

For weeks now, Snowbowl has used 25 snow-making machines to produce good base.

"Each snow machine has its own little weather station, pressure, machine, induce air, on-board compressor, water molecule and cold temperature; just like a snowflake coming out of a cloud," Stratton said.

The ski season is already causing a buzz.

"The enthusiasm for this winter has been off the charts," Stratton said. "I've had locals that have lived in Arizona for 34 years and skied Snowbowl and they've come up to me and say, 'You know what, this is gonna be the year.' I'm looking at the forecast, it's lining up to be '94 or 2001."
