GILBERT, Ariz. - Photos of a birth at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center are being seen around the world. An 8-year-old girl was in the delivery room to witness her baby sister being born and the images are priceless.
Brooke Curtis truly is so incredible beyond her years.
There's a story behind a photo of her holding her chest as she broke down in tears last month after welcoming her baby sister to the world.
"I couldn't of imagined not having her here."
This time, tears of joy, but it still took Kelsey Davis back six years -- seeing a 3-year-old Brooke have a similar break down, but for different reasons.
"Telling her that the baby's precious.. God just wasn't ready for it to be here with us."
Kelsey had to tell Brooke at 3-years-old she was no longer giving birth -- she miscarried.
"She was 3. She was.. you know, young, but she totally understood. She was super excited to be a big sister."
Brooke kind of remembers the feeling.
"I was really sad when she told me that the baby wasn't going to make it.. I really wanted to be a big sister. I was really happy."
The child would have been Brooke's first sibling.
"I'm just sad I can't be around the baby and see what she was like."
And that's why being a big sister now has a whole new meaning. The fact that she has Ellie and Summer now.
"I'm glad I can be one right now."
And to share this moment with her mother, who she knows has struggled, with not one, but three miscarriages.
"I felt happy."
Watching and helping to officially welcome a precious life -- her baby sister. An opportunity Brooke knows not everyone can understand.
"As a mom, when you find out you're pregnant, you instantly love that baby right away."
Brooke has a special message for her siblings in Heaven:
"Just like, hug on them and tell them I love them.."
