It's the busiest time of the year for Valley food banks. St. Mary's food bank handed out thousands of Thanksgiving dinners to deserving families.

Thousands lined up early Monday morning to receive a Thanksgiving Dinner from the St. Mary's Food Bank.

"We're expecting to see thousands and thousands of cars today, there's also folks that are walking in and everyone will receive a turkey, and an emergency food box with a lot of great canned goods, bags of potatoes, fresh fruits and vegetables, hopefully, everything you need to put a meal on your table," said Jerry Brown with the food bank.

The food bank expects to hand out 7,000 to 10,000 turkeys over the next three days.

"It means a lot to us for our table, because this is where I come to get my help," said one resident.

St Mary's and volunteers help make sure everyone has a very happy Thanksgiving.

"What I'm thankful for are the people of Arizona who constantly step up when we ask them to, and so many people are going to have a great Thanksgiving because of that," said a volunteer.

The St Mary's Food Bank says they are still accepting donations of frozen turkeys for Christmas.
