START YOUR ENGINES! Arizona International Auto Show kicks off in Downtown Phoenix

The Arizona International Auto Show roared into town Thursday, kicking off at the Phoenix Convention Center in Downtown Phoenix.

During the event, car fans can check out more than 500 models at the show

"My husband's a car fanatic," said Linda Bell. "He dearly looks forward to this every year to look around, see what's new actually get in. He's in his element over here."

Some of the vehicles shown are not even in the showroom yet. One of those cars, a Jaguar, will be sold for $50,000. There are also cars that are more affordable, like a Kia with leather seats.

Some folks, however, prefer a cool, old-school ride, like a '66 Impala

"Personally, I like the older ones," said 15-year-old Eli Hasson. "There's more to them. The new ones are more gadget-y. The old ones, when you're on the road, you see more."

Hasson is visiting the show with his mom, who said a new vehicle with the latest safety features is what she wants for her kids instead.

"I just feel like there are safety features available I'd rather spend the money, and make sure my kids are as safe as they can be," said Melissa Hasson.

Electric cars, as well as recreations of some old favorites, are also getting plenty of buzz at the show.

The show will open, every day, at 9:00 a.m. Tickets are $11 for adults, $7 for kids and members of the military. Sunday is Family Day, where kids 12 and under get in free.
