Stem cell donor meets Leukemia survivor at Celebration of Life event

A valley man who battled cancer met the person who saved his life.

Tim Gonzales was only 19-years-old when get was diagnosed in 2013. He received stem cells from Erich Grosse, who lives in New York.

Rules state you can ask to meet your donor one year after a donation is made.

On Friday, the two men saw each other face to face at an annual Celebration of Life event, which emphasizes the importance of bone marrow donation.

"I wanted to donate no matter what.. a thousand times more than mine," said Grosse.

Gonzales added, "Finding out that I got a donor.. huge weight that I no longer had to carry."

Gonzales is now 22-years-old and is checked out monthly for follow up care.
