Student found with gun, knives at Estrella Foothills High School

GOODYEAR, Ariz. (KSAZ) - Officials say a student was found with a gun and knives on the campus of Estrella Foothills High School on Thursday.

According to the Buckeye Union High School District, the school's administration was notified through the school district's anonymous alert system that a student was on campus with a weapon.

The school district says the student was immediately isolated and was found to be in possession of a gun and knives.

The student was removed from campus and the Goodyear Police Department is now investigating.

All students at the high school are safe and the school day proceeded without interruption. Parents, however, received an alert of the incident earlier in the day.

"I was concerned," said parent Lara Garrett. "It is always concerning in this day and age, when you have to worry about that, and your kids at school and their safety."

"You start thinking about everything you hear on the news from other states, mass shootings and stuff, it freaks you out," said Cisco Hernandez.
