Surprise student arrested, accused of trying to attack teacher with knife

SURPRISE, Ariz. (KSAZ) - Police in Surprise say a high school student has been arrested after he tried to attack a teacher with a knife.

According to Sgt. Tim Klarkowski with the Surprise Police Department, the student tried to attack the teacher with a knife at the Dysart Learning Center on November 28.

Police say the student was taken into custody before he was able to injure anyone. Police say the student did not intend to harm anyone else.

The student was booked into a juvenile detention facility on multiple charges, including attempt to commit first-degree murder and aggravated assault.

Police say the student was a part of a therapeutic day placement program administered by a third party contracted by the Dysart Unified School District.
