Suspect & victim identified in deadly Tempe stabbing

TEMPE, Ariz. (KSAZ) - Tempe Police arrested a man who they say stabbed his mother and stepfather. He has been identified as 27-year-old Blake Holten.

Police got a 911 call around 6:30 p.m. Friday from an apartment near Grove Parkway and Kyrene.

When officers arrived they say the suspect was stabbing his mother and stepfather, he then fled from officers by jumping from a second story window.

Responding officers took the suspect into custody after using a TASER.

Paramedics rushed the mother and step father to the hospital but the stepfather died at the hospital. The victim has been identified as 46-year-old Donovan Arneson. The mother remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Tempe Police say the suspect may have been suffering from mental health and drug abuse issues.
