TEMPE, Ariz. (KSAZ) - A barricaded suspect was shot and killed following an officer-involved shooting near Rural and Westchester.
Lt. Michael Pooley says an officer trying to apprehend the suspect in connection with the robbery of a pharmacy shot the man once during a scuffle Wednesday morning.
Pooley says the suspect retreated into the Westchester Senior Center where he barricaded himself in a storage area. He added that the man who was shot matched the description of the robbery suspect, who was after pharmaceuticals.
At least some of the residents of the senior center were evacuated during the incident and none were injured.
