Wanted fugitive dead following officer-involved shooting

NEAR SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (KSAZ) -- Officials with the U.S. Marshals Office say a suspect is dead, following an officer-involved shooting on the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community Tuesday.

According to a statement, members of the U.S. Marshals Task Force received information of a violent and dangerous wanted fugitive Tuesday morning. The person was located in Mesa, and was followed to the reservation, where he attempted to flee arrest. During the arrest, members of the Task Force shot and killed the suspect.

Officials said no officers were hurt during the incident. Meanwhile, the suspect has yet to be identified.
