Suspect detained after man shot in Glendale

A shooting in Glendale left a man in the hospital, and another behind bars.
Glendale Police were called out to the Maryland Garden Apartments off Ocotillo Road and 46th Avenue around 8:15 Monday morning. They got a call of a shooting and they found a 25-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound.
"We were able to get to that victim, get the fire department to that victim and treat him that victim has been transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries," said a police spokesperson.
Police say with the help of some witnesses they were able to locate the suspect who was hiding out about a block away behind a dumpster.
"And I think somebody actually called and provided us with where he was hiding, which was behind the dumpster," he said.
Police are investigating what caused the shooting, and if the suspect and victim knew each other.
The shooting caused nearby Barcelona Middle School to go on lockdown for a short time as a precautionary measure. Once the suspect was taken into custody, the lockdown was lifted.
