Downtown building partially evacuated after suspicious substance was found

PHOENIX (KSAZ) - Firefighters say the 20th floor of the Collier Center in Downtown Phoenix was evacuated as a precaution Friday, after an envelope containing a suspicious substance was found.

According to Capt. Rob McDade, two people came in contact with the suspicious substance on the 20th floor.

In a later statement, Phoenix Police Sergeant Tommy Thompson said the suspicious substance, which was in the form of a powder, was eventually determined to be non-dangerous, and people who were evacuated later returned to work.

An investigation by Phoenix Police is underway.
