Tempe police arrest man accused of stabbing girlfriend

A man was arrested after stabbing his girlfriend during an argument inside their home early Wednesday morning.

Tempe police say 56-year-old Steven Engle stabbed his girlfriend after the two were involved in an argument just before 3 a.m. Police received a 911 call about the incident and upon arriving to the scene, Engle was gone.

Police searched the area near the home and took Engle into custody at a nearby office complex

Engle was booked into Tempe City Jail for an aggravated assault and domestic violence charge. His girlfriend was transported to a local hospital and is expected to survive.
