Three arrested in overnight I-10 shootings

- Three people are in custody in connection with shootings reported on Interstate 10 early Sunday morning, according to a spokesperson for the Arizona Department of Public Safety.  There were no injuries reported.

DPS troopers responded to the first shooting near I-10 and the Broadway curve at about 2:00 a.m.  A victim reported seeing a person in a black sedan heading westbound, who allegedly pointed a handgun out the window and fired a shot from the passenger side. With help from the Phoenix Police helicopter, troopers were able to locate the sedan near I-10 and 83rd Avenue.  Two people inside the vehicle were apprehended once the vehicle pulled into an apartment complex.

During their investigation, DPS troopers found a victim in a passenger car whose vehicle had been shot near 83rd Avenue, and the victim was stopped in the area of McDowell Road.  The round, which was found inside the vehicle, was removed as evidence.  DPS has not released the victim's condition.

A third person was detained about 45 minutes later.  Police have not released the names of the suspects involved. Right now troopers say there is no link between the incident overnight and the shootings that occured between August 22 and September 10.
