Trial date set for valley mother accused of killing 3 sons

Police say the boys, ages 8, 5 and 2, were found in the closet and the youngest was found in a suitcase.

"I just want to hug her and just hold her and tell her that I'm here for her and that's it," Sherry Spooney said. "We just want the best for her, she's still our family and we just want the best of her and it's very emotional, but we just want the best for her."

Spooney is Rogers' aunt and says she doesn't yet know the outcome she wants from the trial.

"I'm not sure, I'm not sure, I have no idea, no idea, no idea," she said. "So, we just want her around. Honestly, I just want to support my sister, honestly it's in God's hands now."

Ben Taylor is the family's attorney and says Rogers spoke very little in court Monday and was visibly upset, as was her aunt and brother.

"Three boys have died, lost their lives, and the family is very emotional with this case, however, they still support Octavia in this case," he said.

Spooney says they talk on the phone as often as possible.

"On the phone she's very emotional, very, very emotional, just about very day, just about," she said.

Rogers' trial date is set for February 16.

Investigators believe Rogers also tried to kill herself after finding stab wounds to her neck and stomach.

Rogers' mother has said she believes her daughter suffered from post-partum depression.
