Triathlon at newly reopened Tempe Town Lake

The Tempe Triathlon is the biggest water event to hit Tempe Town Lake since it reopened just a couple of weeks ago.

Athletes are running, biking and of course swimming, and there's always a huge turnout at the event.

People from all over the world are attending the event; a total of about 800 people are participating.

Fox 10's Courtney Griffin is at the event on Sunday, reporting from the transition area.

People are advised to avoid the area due to multiple road closures near Tempe Town Lake.

Parts of Rio Salado, Mill Avenue, and Hardy are shut down until 1 p.m. for the event.
