2 ex-police officers indicted, accused of alerting strip club of raid

PHOENIX (AP) -- Two former Phoenix police officers are accused of tipping off patrons and employees of a gentlemen's club last March about an investigation into alleged sale and transportation of illegal drugs.

Attorneys for 35-year-old Sebastian Castillo and 39-year-old Richard Denny did not immediately return calls for comment Tuesday on the May 6 indictment charging each man with hindering prosecution.

The Police Department says Castillo and Denny were on duty at the time and that both recently resigned.

Police Chief Joe Yahner said in a statement that he was "extremely disappointed" in the actions of Castillo and Denny.

The Essex club previously had a deadly shooting in December of 2015 in which two men were shot, one killed.
