UPDATE: New details released in officer-involved shooting in Buckeye

Police in Buckeye are releasing new information about the officer-involved shooting that occurred Saturday afternoon.
Around 3:45 p.m. Saturday, the Buckeye Police Department received a call from someone out-of-state requesting a welfare check of a woman at a home in the 238th block of Wayland Drive.
The caller told police that a man may have killed his wife and that two children were in the house, according to Dan Hoffmeister with the Buckeye Police Department.
When officers responded to the house, they were immediately fired upon by a man in a vehicle.
The responding officers fired back at the man. Officers later found him dead in the vehicle, Hoffmeister said.
When the officers entered the home they found two children unharmed and a woman’s body.
Buckeye police are currently investigating the death of the woman and trying to locate family members who can take the children.
Police have not yet released the names of the man or the woman who died at the scene.
