Urban farm in Phoenix teaches people how to grow their own food

- Around 15 percent of the world's food is grown in urban areas, and it's a trend that continues to grow, including in Arizona.

The farm is located in the middle of Downtown Phoenix. David Smith, director of Urban Farms, was the mastermind behind creating a little oasis in the middle of a city.

"It's a little slice of nature, because you will see ladybugs and hummingbirds," said Smith.

It's been running since 2012, but has recently been beautified. The food grown ends up on the dining table at St. Vincent de Paul.

"We're pretty happy about that, and I think they did about 7,000 pounds of food last year," said Smith.
