US Airways to complete merger with American
PHOENIX (KSAZ) - By this weekend, the U.S. Airways name will only be history. The airline is expected to complete the merger with American Airlines with the last flight landing in Philadelphia at 6:18 a.m. Saturday morning.
Behind the scenes, the two airlines will combine passenger reservation systems and change all signage across the world to reflect American Airlines.
Customers traveling on Saturday will need to use the American Airlines mobile app and website.
In anticipation of the merger, American has cut almost 200 flights from it's schedule Saturday at US Airways Hub airports; Charlotte, Phoenix, and Philadelphia. Workers from other American Airlines hubs will be flown to US Airways hub cities to help.
The airline has also established a center to help with any problems from October 14 - October 27.
