Adopt-An-Angel: SRP helps Valley kids in need get Christmas gifts

Hundreds of valley kids in need can be assured they'll have a gift to open up this holiday season, all thanks to Salt River Project employees.

Each holiday season, SRP employees take part in the Adopt-An-Angel event.

Hundreds of workers buy and donate a gift for a child in need and those gifts are then given to students in the Fowler Elementary School District.

"And this year out employees adopted 312 angels from the Fowler School District," Jen Martyn said.

Today, eighth graders from Western Valley Middle School arrived outside SRP's office to help pack up the gifts. They will be delivered to the families later this week.

"I love helping out, I love seeing all the kids smile and it's great to be apart of this," Anilu Ramos said.

It takes a team of people to make this happen, but because of the employees coming together, hundreds of kids will now have a gift to open up on Christmas Day.

"The school district is definitely in need of our employees," Martyn said. "They love it, they come out in full force every year."

SRP also collected and donated 200,000 canned food items for its 23rd annual canned food drive.
