Valley man wins 3 minute shopping spree

Could you get all your Christmas shopping done in three minutes? One local man won a free 3-minute shopping spree at a Valley hardware store.

It was a race against the clock, contest winner Jeff Keck won the shopping spree of a lifetime.

"I've never won anything before," said Jeff Keck.

Jeff's name was drawn as part of the "Paul's Ace Hardware" giveaway. He was able to put anything he wanted into his shopping cart at the hardware store in under three minutes; he was looking for something specific.

"Mainly power tools, but a pizza stone, I was told to get it, gotta make sure I get that," said Keck.

It was the 59th Anniversary for the hardware store. The shopping spree was part of the grand opening of the newest store in Tempe at Broadway and Rural that opened earlier this year.

"Last year we did these shopping sprees and had so much fun getting to know our customers even a little bit better, and it brought the community together, and we were really able to reward our customers, and it's just been a super good time," said Julie Buchowski.

The store gave away a total of six shopping sprees, one at each of the Valley locations.

Jeff said he was excited to be able to add more tools to his collection, and he even did some scouting yesterday.

"Cased the joint, had to make sure where they were ya know, it really helped me out, so I appreciate it," said Keck.

"We're so glad that the community has supported us for 59 years, and we hope to go for another 59," said Buchowski.

It turned out to be a good day for Jeff; he walked out the door with over $1,900 worth of stuff.
