Valley mom leaves child home alone, admits to using heroin

A 3-year-old girl was found home alone locked in a closet and police believe she had been in there for several hours.
The little girl's mother told police she was high on heroin when she left the girl alone in the apartment.
Neighbors at this apartment complex say it breaks their heart to hear what kind of treatment this little girl received but also say that drugs are prevalent in that area so their not entirely shocked.
Paige Adams was arrested September 29 for shoplifting. At the time an officer asked Adams if she had any kids at home.
She told officers she did have a child but that it was with a friend.
Just after midnight officers received a call from the grandmother who told police that she was afraid the three-year-old was left by Adams home alone.
When they went to the residence they found the three-year-old barricaded in one of the closets crying with a dirty diaper.
When the police questioned Adams, she admitted she was high on heroin when she left her daughter.
Neighbors say they feel for the child and hope she gets help.
In court paperwork, police say they came across many syringes while in the home.
Adams will appear before a judge later this month.
