Valley nonprofit encourages healthy lifestyle in kids

Students at Guerrero Elementary School watched and learned as the Be Kind People Project put on their very first "Be Fit, Be Healthy, Be Kind" assembly.

"We involve movement, we involve dance and these kids love it and they gravitate towards it," Weezy said.

It's all about encouraging healthy lifestyles, like remaining active, eating well and just being nice. Those lessons, all in this assembly and everyone at Guerrero, gets a pedometer and a healthy habits checklist.

The goal is that the lessons taught here will translate into success elsewhere. All of it is thanks in part to Fiesta Bowl charities.

"I think Be Kind is a great organization," said Executive Director of the Fiesta Bowl Mike Neali. "It's one of our larger works that we contribute to because they do such great work. For the Fiesta Bowl to be able to give our money away to groups like this, it makes us feel really good about what we're doing."
