Veteran's Day parade honors local vets

As the nation prepares to honor veterans across the country, there are several events in the valley to honor local vets.

One of those events is the Veteran's Day parade in Phoenix. The parade starts at 11 a.m. and is expected to last about two hours.

The parade route begins at North Phoenix Baptist Church at Central and Bethany Home Road. From there, the parade will head south down Central and then turn east onto Camelback Road. After that, the parade goes south on Seventh Street and ends at Indian School Road.

In total, the parade route covers bout two-and-a-half miles of Central Phoenix.

In addition to this parade, the East Valley Veteran's Day parade is in downtown Mesa and starts at 11 a.m. This parade route begins at Center Street and University Drive. From there, it will travel south on Center and then turn west on First Street before ending at Robson.

This is the first time in two years that the parade is taking place on Veteran's Day.
