PHOENIX (KSAZ) - Around 10:30 p.m. last night, a main water line at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport burst, leaving bathrooms and even some restaurants in Terminal 2 our of order.
"It's various bathrooms throughout the terminal," said Heather Lissner with Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. "We do have some bathrooms open, some are closed. There are portable restrooms both before and after security for our customers."
Some customers were scrambling and searching for the nearest bathroom while in a bit of a time crunch.
"I just arrived and was hoping I could freshen up in the restrooms," Elizabeth Tisdal said.
Others were just curious to know what happened.
"How many hundreds or thousands of people will come through this airport every day, and I can't imagine what the situation would be in the bathrooms if the water has been cut off," Katherine Foust said.
In the meantime, Sky Harbor staff says while repairs are underway, they are still not sure what may have caused the break or when the main line would be fixed.
"It may have been related to construction, but we're still finding out the information," Lissner said. "We're working to keep our customers comfortable, to give them water, hand sanitizer, and we're working to get this restored as soon as we can."
