Website matches Bernie Sanders supporters
TEMPE, Ariz. (KSAZ) - An Arizona State University student has capitalized on the popularity of the Democratic Candidate Bernie Sanders to help bring singles together.
ASU Sophomore Colten Caudle has been a Bernie Sanders supporter since the Vermont Senator announced his candidacy for President. He started BernieSingles.com last week; originally it was just a joke.
"I just thought it is something ridiculous, but after seeing all the people signing up on the website and actually connecting, it was sort of rewarding," said Colten Caudle.
The site got nearly 1 million hits on its first day.
"I didn't expect it to go kinda viral like this, so many people signed up that the site crashed within an hour," he said.
It caught Colten by Surprise.
"The first couple of days I spent about 12-15 hours on it, barely got any sleep, but now I pretty much just manage a team of volunteers, we have about 20 people on it," said Caudle.
Caudle says his idea went viral overnight.
"I jokingly posted on there about starting a website, and after seeing a lot of interest, I basically just wanted to take on the project. And we got a few thousand more people and launched it, and it just sort of went viral after that," said Caudle.
