Wine, Women and Horses event to benefit valley kids

Get your derby hat ready for the 6th Annual Wine, Women and Horses event this weekend at Turf Paradise.

At the event, you'll be able to enjoy horse betting, a hat competition, lunch and plenty of wine.

"There's beautiful raffles, there's also a silent auction that goes on throughout the day," said Dana Terrazas, director of Child Crisis Arizona. "Anything from spa services, staycations and of course, alcohol baskets."

All of this is to raise money for Child Crisis Arizona, which is an agency that helps abused and neglected kids.

"Child Crisis Arizona is an agency here in the valley that operates the only two emergency children shelters for kids," Terrazas said.

The organization has 71 beds available for children who are in emergency situations and are without a home.

"Currently, there are 21,000 kids in Arizona in and out of home care, so we are doing the best we can with the kids that we serve at our emergency shelters, but we're looking for foster families, adoptive families," she said. "We register, we train, we license them so if you have any interest or know anyone that might, please come to us because we would love to help some kids out."

Last year, the event raised more than $45,000, all of which benefited Child Crisis Arizona.

The event at Turf Paradise runs from noon to 4 p.m., on Saturday and Fox 10's Syleste Rodriguez will emcee the event.
