Woman and dog saved from burning apartment

GLENDALE, Ariz. (KSAZ) - Glendale Fire crew say a woman and a dog were rescued from a burning apartment, and reportedly the woman could be heard screaming for help as crews pulled up to the scene.

The fire broke out at about 3:30 a.m., causing a lot of damage to the first and second floors. We're told a woman was on the second floor yelling for help when firefighters arrived. Amber Jones, public information officer for Glendale Fire says police were first on scene, and they were able to able to knock down the flames a little bit with their fire extinguishers. When fire crews arrived they heard screaming on the second floor and they were able to put a ladder to the second floor and make a rescue.

Also in that apartment was the woman's adult son, who was able to out by the time fire crews arrived. A dog and a cat were also saved from the apartment, and crews used.

The woman suffered smoke inhalation and suffered burns on her hands and feet as well as some smoke inhalation.

At least one apartment is a complete loss.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
