Woman battling brain cancer gets home decorated for Christmas

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas inside the home of Vicki Petersen.

"We wanted to celebrate you and bring you some decorations for the holidays," caregivers said.

Petersen is battling brain cancer and her caregivers from Synergy Home Care wanted to make the holidays just a little bit brighter for her.

"Today, she doesn't have her family here in state, and her house hasn't been decorated, so we wanted to come out and bring her some extra joy and celebrate with her, play some music, play some games and just do something extra for her for the holidays," Amy Jascourt said.

The Synergy elves transformed her home, hung garland and brought gifts.

"Oh man, I love Christmas, it's my favorite holiday," Vicki said.

"Synergy has helped a lot," said Melia Petersen, Vicki's daughter. "I'm a full-time student, so I have been taking care of my mom a lot, but it really helps to have someone we can rely on and it's so sweet they're doing this for my mom. It means a lot to us."

Synergy is spreading a little bit of joy and light.

"If anyone deserves something like this, it's my mom because she's been so amazing and helped so many people, it's nice to see people helping her now too," Melia said.
