Woman found dead in parked car along Loop 101 identified

PEORIA, Ariz. (AP/KSAZ) -- Authorities are investigating an incident involving a woman who was found dead along a Phoenix area freeway on Sunday.

According to DPS officials, they received multiple reports early Sunday of a vehicle stopped on the left shoulder of the Loop 101 near Bell Road.

The Associated Press reported Sunday that when troopers arrived at the scene, they reported finding the woman unresponsive with a rope around her neck. Meanwhile, DPS officials said Monday that the woman had injuries that were not consistent with the minor collision of the car against the wall.

The woman, identified as 29-year-old Stella W. Kiarie, was later pronounced dead. DPS detectives then found a 1-year-old boy by himself at Kiarie's home.

DPS officials say their investigation is ongoing.
