BUCKEYE, Ariz. (KSAZ) - A woman has died after she was shot in the chest by a stray bullet in Buckeye.
Detective Tamela Skaggs with the Buckeye Police Department says 24-year-old Kami Gilstrap was hit by a stray bullet in the chest in a desert area north of Interstate 10 off Miller Road.
Gilstrap was with her family when she was shot and was airlifted to a hospital where she later died.
Investigators say the desert area where the woman was shot is a popular place for people to fire guns and hundreds of people were out shooting in the area, which makes it difficult to identify who fired the shot.
The investigation is ongoing by Buckeye police.
