Woman injured in attempted robbery near carpet store

Police are looking for a man who injured a woman in an attempted robbery. The surveillance footage may be grainy, but it shows the suspect tackling the 53-year-old woman to the ground.

Officers say it's a case of being in the wrong place and wrong time. The incident happened near Cave Creek Road, in between Bell Road and Union Hills on March 1 around 9:00 p.m.

Authorities say the suspect pushed the victim straight to the ground and tried to take her cell phone.

The victim was walking in the area of Cave Creek Road in between Bell and Union Hills in front of the Carpet Closeouts store. The victim was able to fight the suspect off, but during the struggle, the alcohol bottle he was carrying broke on ground. The woman sustained bruises and cuts from that broken bottle.

Police say the suspect is described as a white male, 26 years old, and about 5' 11" tall, weighing 160 pounds with blond hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a white velour shirt and blue jeans. Officials say the suspect fled behind the store after he said that he wanted to harm himself.
