Woman rams truck into Mesa business, but takes nothing

MESA, Ariz. (KSAZ) -- A business in Mesa is closed Thursday after the driver of a truck drove right into the front of it. And it was all captured on the store surveillance camera.

The owner of Wirless Toyz in Mesa near Dobson and Baseline Roads says a woman was trying to steal merchandise.

But first, the was seen trying to throw a car jack through the glass window of the store. Then, she tried ramming into the business with her truck.

However, one the driver breaks the glass, no one is seen trying to run in and grab items.

"I think that's a crazy way to go about it," said Mal Nolan who works next door.

He saw the area boarded up on Thursday, and couldn't believe the story.

"Ruin a whole building for a couple of things. That's pretty crazy. Stuff like that doesn't happen here that often," Nolan said.

Police say the suspect used the vehicle to break into the store, but took off once a witness came by thinking an accident had happened and tried to help.

"Why ruin your car for that? For a little bit of money. Can't be worth that much," Nolan said.
