PHOENIX (AP) - Part of a Phoenix freeway was shut down for nearly two hours during the Wednesday morning commute after a wreck involving a SUV pulling a work trailer dumped nails and other debris on the roadway.
REMINDER: Avoid I-17 northbound in Phoenix due to extreme delays. The highway is closed due to a spilled load of nails in the roadway. Traffic is at a standstill starting at Osborn. Traffic backed up several miles while northbound I-17 in northwest Phoenix was closed for about 1 mile, forcing traffic to get off the freeway and before getting back on at the next interchange.
A state Department of Public Safety spokesman said he had no information on whether the nails flattened tires of passing vehicles and whether any citations were issued.
