WWII veterans return to Phoenix following Honor Flight trip to D.C.

PHOENIX (KSAZ) - Some World War II veterans are back in the Valley Thursday, after a quick trip to the country's capital.

It's all part of flights that have come to be known as "Honor Flights", which allow veterans to travel to visit the war memorials in Washington D.C., at no cost.

The number of remaining WWII veterans is on the decline. A sailor or soldier who was 18 years old old back in 1944, would be 91 years old today.

Many of the remaining WWII vets have already taken an Honor Flight.
