Bring on the heat: Valley sees record high temps

If you were outdoors at all this weekend, you felt the heat.

The valley hit record high temperatures, and it could happen again on Monday.

Hikers are sure to be out taking advantage of the warmer temps, but things could get dangerous later this afternoon. Temperatures are expected to hit the mid 90s.

The record for Monday is 97 degrees, set in 2004.

The valley could be flirting with those temps once again,

Sky Harbor Airport saw record highs on Saturday and Sunday; 97 degrees on Sunday makes it the hottest day of the year so far.

It also marked the third straight day that temperatures were 95 degrees or higher.

Usually at this time of the year the average high is around 80 degrees.

If you're going to be outside on Monday, be prepared.

Grab plenty of water, a cell phone and sunscreen.

It's also going to be in the 90s Tuesday and possibly Wednesday before we're supposed to cool down to the upper 80s, which will still be a little above average.
