Central Phoenix dance theater offers Aerial class for children

It's a unique way to enjoy some aerial fun, and it's for the kids.

It's difficult, hard, but graceful, and without a doubt fun.

"Definitely breaking a sweat out here, a lot of work, a lot of core strength and arm strength," said Gavin Sisson.

These performers at Scorpius Dance Theater in Central Phoenix work every inch of their bodies.

"You have to train all the time because when you don't you can tell your body hurts right away," said Sisson.

They depend on the strength of each silk hanging from the ceiling, turning and flipping, and testing the limits of gravity.

"As a dancer I grew up wanting to transcend the limits of gravity, and then when I got a chance to be introduced to aerial it was just amazing," she said.

It's really gaining the confidence to where your body is in space that transcends more than the stunts, because that is what you take when you leave the studio is that nice sense of empowerment through your body," said Sisson.

And now children can try aerial too, the children's camp starts Monday.
