Crews clean up Oregano's after crash into restaurant

Crews are cleaning up the damage left behind at an Oregano's restaurant after an SUV slammed into it on Monday.

They're working to reopen the location near 67th Avenue and Bell Road on Tuesday, but if there isn't enough time to get it up to code, the restaurant is expected to reopen on Wednesday.

Customers inside the restaurant were forced to jump out of the way as the SUV came barreling towards them.

Many families were enjoying a dinner out for Memorial Day when the crash happened.

Fire crews say five people were injured, two of them were in critical condition at a valley hospital.

The crash caused some flooding inside the restaurant.

Investigators believe an adult male driver in an SUV went from parked to drive and sped into the restaurant.

Police say impairment may be a factor in the crash.
