PHOENIX (AP) - Border Patrol agents say they have seen an ultralight aircraft they believe to be smuggling drugs between the U.S. and Mexico for the second time in the last two weeks.
Both times U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents report finding bundles of marijuana weighing about 219 pounds and worth an estimated $109,500 nearby areas where the ultralight was seen.
Agents say they seized the second bundle of marijuana from a truck near Yuma Monday. They attempted to stop the truck when it slowed and the driver jumped out and ran off. In the truck bed agents found the bundles of marijuana while the driver escaped on foot.
Last year border agents seized 185 pounds of marijuana after an ultralight flew from Mexico into Arizona.
