Guzman-Fernandez was speeding when he hit a canal embankment, which caused his car to go airborne and roll several times, Enriquez said.

After the crash, Guzman-Fernandez ran to a nearby commercial trucking company lot, but deputies caught up with him and took him into custody, Enriquez said.

Guzman-Fernandez admitted to being the driver of the crashed vehicle. He was then taken to the hospital and treated for a dislocated shoulder, according to Enriquez.

During the investigation, deputies learned that Guzman-Fernandez's Blood Alcohol Level was .147 percent.
