DES Director announces resignation

It's perhaps the first of many changes for administration in state offices.

Department of Economic Security Director Clarance Carter submitted his letter of resignation to Governor Ducey.

He will officially step down on Friday.

A lot of people had been calling for Carter's resignation during the controversy surrounding Child Protective Services.

It was under his watch that some 6,000 complaints to a child abuse hotline went uninvestigated.

Former Governor Brewer did not fire him, but did mandate changes including a new department the Department of Child Safety be created.
