Driver fleeing from DPS loses control on I-17

A high speed chase on two valley freeways that went through several cities on Tuesday night.

It started on I-10 and continued on the I-17, with the suspect traveling as fast as 100 miles per hour.

The suspect also turned off their headlights at least once during the chase. It all came to an end after the suspect made the turn from westbound I-17 to northbound near 19th Avenue and lost control.

Officers arrived seconds after the suspect crashed. Inside the car, was a second suspect.

Paramedics took both suspects to a hospital in critical condition; the driver is expected to face charges.

DPS officials did not release the suspects' name, both men have only been described as being in their 30's.

At this point though, it's unclear why Mesa police were trying to pull over the suspects in the first place and why they were running from police.
