"Escape the Room" attraction opens in Scottsdale

It may seem like a nightmare. You're locked inside a room with complete strangers and there's only one way out. But the nightmare is actually the premise behind a new attraction that's opened in Scottsdale and the only way to get out is to work together.

"We are an interactive live puzzle," said Paul Boyd.

Whether it's with your friends or with complete strangers, there is only one way out of this old west bank.

"You need to rob the bank and get out in 60 minutes because back in the 1880s, it took police an hour to respond to a bank robbery," said Boyd.

But this bank is actually one of three rooms at Escape the Room in Scottsdale and it's one of three such attractions in the U.S.

"We put up to 10 people and we lock you inside a room and you have up to 60 minutes to work your way out and through a series of puzzles, combinations, locks, riddles.. you've got 60 minutes to get out of the room, explained Boyd.

Teamwork is the key to success in escaping on time.  You find a clue and work together to unlock the next step.

The staff can monitor your progress using cameras and if you get stuck, they can help.

But the more people you have, the better chance you have of escaping on time.  Because the staff at Escape the Room say going it alone will only lead to an unhappy ending.

The same attraction opened up in New York City last year and it's already been voted one of the top attractions in the Big Apple.
