Ex-professional boxer sentenced to prison

An ex-professional boxer was sentenced to 84 months in prison and a $15,000 fine, for his part in a drug distribution ring.

On Wednesday 34-year-old Juan Antonio Suazo was sentenced by Chief US District Court Judge Raner Collins in Tucson.

Suazo is a former Golden Gloves champ and in 2009 is believed to have supplied 300-350 pound loads of pot to several distributors in the United States. In early December Suazo pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute more than 100 kilograms of marijuana. 

Government agents also seized approximately $1 million in cash through the course of the investigation.
